Where you will discover the beautiful and prideful work of the indigenous people of Cuetzalan, Puebla Mexico. Cuetzalan is a pueblo set high in the hillsides of Northern Mexico, in the state of Puebla. It is located between the Sierra and the Coffee Plantations.
Cinco de Mayo has it's roots here. In late 1861, a well-armed French army attacked Veracruz moving towards Mexico City, where the French army encountered heavy resistance from Mexicans close to Puebla, at the Mexican Forts of Loreto and Guadalupe. The French army of 8,000 attacked the poorly equipped Mexican army of 4,000. On May 5, 1862, The Mexican army defeated the French. This victory represented a significant morale boost to the Mexican army and the Mexican people which brought forth a great sense of Unity and Pride of Country.
The same undying love and orgullo (Pride) of country still remains in the Mexican people. The people of Cuetzalan , Puebla are a humble people with a huge corazon, that take great pride in their work.
